Meany committee Spring Meeting Conclusions
The meeting was sparsely attended, but we really appreciated the generosity of Brian & Jennifer Thompson (Sojin's parents) for hosting the meeting.
So here is the summation:
Business side:
- Meany made a "profit" so far this year, so far.
- We won't see much revenue until ski season starts.
- Revenue generated will be during the following (most are not large events):
- Meany Family Hiking Weekend - August 1-2
- Nature Conservancy - August 4-5
- Garefield "The Messanger" HS newspaper retreat - Aug 28-30
- Seattle Univeristy Freshman Orientation retreat - Sept 16-18
- MOFA (Tentative) - Sept 18-20
- Serious expenses will be incurred as we work through the project list.
Activity Side:
- We really need helpers for the July 17 - 20 work party.
- A cook & helpers so the rest of the crew can concentrate on working
- Electricians to help wire in the new power unit for the small & medium tows
- Laborers to mow the grass by the tows so we can trench in the new wiring
- Laborers to operate Jack Hammer(s) in the first aid room so we can stop the leaks
- Carpenters to help with rebuilding the Men's dorm fire escape
- Painters to help paint window trim
- Nature Conservancy - August 4-5
- we need a lodge host and a couple of kitchen helpers.
- The committee can provide transportation if needed.
- Mens dorm Painting August 7 - 9
- Norm Vigus will do the painting but needs 3-4 helpers with masking, trimming, etc.
- He would also like a cook to feed the crew.
If you can volunteer for any of the above activities, please email
Chuck and let him know.
And as a reminder, as a climbing course student, volunteering at Meany meets your service hour requirement.
