Q: Do we need to be Mountaineer members to use the lodge, ski or take a class?

You do not have to be a member to use any of the Lodge facilities. However, any overnight stay will be at the guest rate rather than the member rate. The lesson price is the same for both members/non members. Now we do offer the option of joining the Mountaineers at the lodge which would give you the member rate for any future stay.

Q: How do the Program Lessons work ?

You will receive eight 1 hour lessons, two per weekend; one on Saturday afternoon and one Sunday morning. Since Program A and B are exactly the same, you may take make-up lessons on an alternate program weekend. For example, if you are in Program B and miss your Jan 12-13 lessons, you may take makeup lessons during Program A on Jan 19-20. If you know ahead of time that you will be missing a weekend, you can choose to take makeup lessons either before or after your normally scheduled weekend.

Q: What are the specifics for lodging and food ?

You will need to make a lodge reservation. (See Question 1 for directions.) Lodge reservations include meals and snacks. You need not bring your ownfood unless you have a very special diet. Our knowlegable cooking staff enjoy preparing many different specialty diets, (veggie, vegan, gluten free, lactose free, peanut free, etc). Just be sure to let us know your special requirements when you register.
The lodge is like a hostel. We can sleep a total of 97 with 3 communal dorms for men, women and families. Bunks are first come first served. So your first job on arrival is to claim a bunk by putting you gear on it. There are divisions within each dorm, with groupings of 4 to 6 bunks in each area, Each bunk has a 4" foam mattress where you place your sleeping bag and pillow.

Q: Meany Lodge has a rope tow ?

Rope tows are easier to use, especially for beginners, as you can get off anywhere you want on the slope. With a chair lift you have to stay on the lift until you get to the top. The top may be steeper than you are comfortable with! It's faster and easier to learn when you use a rope tow. And the best part is NO WAITING IN LINES !!!!!

Q: What is Family Hiking Weekend ?

Family Hiking Weekend is Meany's annual summer gathering where Mountaineer members and guests can enjoy the Lodge for summer fun. As the name suggests, hiking weekend is family oriented. We plan activities and hikes around the kids, introducing them to hiking and the outdoors.
It is also a great opportunity to experience Meany Lodge without the snow. Meet some of the people who keep the lodge going. And, consider if bringing your family to Meany this winter might be for you.

Q: Is there room to set up a portable crib ?

There are spaces in the family dorm and in the first aid room where you can set up a portable crib. How well this works in the family dorm depends on the number of cribs and the cooperation of the people sharing the space. If your child is fussy, it is recommended that you try the first aid room. It tends to give you more privacy and room
