Vehicle Prep
Your vehicles must be fully prepared for harsh winter driving conditions. Vehicles should carry
snow shovel, extra clothing, food and water, and tire chains. Guests need to be fully capable of
installing tire chains without assistance from others. Experienced guests have learned, it is wise
to install chains (if not already on) when you arrive. Deep snow falling while you are at the
lodge may make it more difficult to install chains after you return to the snow park lot.
Arrival Time
You should arrive in the parking lot sufficiently ahead of published snow cat departure times to
park your vehicle (install chains if needed), and extract gear out of your car. We suggest,
arriving at a minimum 20-30 min. More if you have children to get loaded onto the cat. Longer if
you need to install chains.
Sno-Cat
The Sno-Cat makes two trips. It usually arrives about 30 minutes prior to depature time. Equipment
should be ready to be placed on the cat. The ride to the lodge may last an hour or longer depending
on snow conditions. The cat is un-heated and you may be asked to walk a segment of the route, so
please dress accordingly.
If the cat breaks down, you will need to ski/hike in or out. It is 3 miles from the parking lot to
the lodge. The snow is more likely than not to be deep and unpacked so please Plan accordingly,
especially if your party includes children.
Guests registered in any of the Winter Sports programs may store a CLEARLY LABLED duffle bag or pack containing a sleeping bag and other clothing needed at the lodge for the duration of the program. Bags should be removed by the last ski weekend.
We encourage that all clothing and gear be clearly labeled with the name of the owner. The lodge is not responsible for lost items, searching for or retrieving items left behind.
You must bring all your own (clearly labeled) winter sports gear. The lodge does not loan or rent skis, snowboards or any other gear. The lodge staff is not allowed to make repairs or adjustments to any gear.
lodge chairperson for permission prior to arrival.
If you are the "Responsible Adult" for a minor child who is not your child, you must have
written permission from a parent or guardian to authorize emergency medical care. Contact the
lodge chairperson
for details before you visit.
Except when in group lessons, children must be kept under the care and supervision of a responsible adult at all times. For children under five years, we encourage a ratio of no more than 1 child/1 adult. For children 6-10 years, we encourage a ratio of no more than 2 children/1 adult. The lodge staff will provide help to any child that asks, but we will also provide direction if needed both to unsupervised children and their "Responsible Adult(s)".
Parents are expected to take crying or "fussing" children to the basement.
Sledding or inner-tubing may be done only in designated areas, with a responsible adult above and below Lodge staff will advise guests on the designated areas.
Outside the direct observation of the Tow Operators, Meany slopes are "Partner Skiing Only". Guests are not to ski the back side of the hill alone or when the area is posted as "CLOSED".
If you leave the Lodge campus to snow shoe, cross-country or back-country ski you must sign out with Lodge staff. Guests that chose to hike (or ski) out to the parking lot must tell a staff member of that decision. We must know who's at the lodge.
When an observer is not at the top of the hill, skiers will not be allowed on the tow past the ¾ mark on the large tow.
If you tow into or out of the lodge, you are expected to carry your own gear.
All skiers and boarders at the Intermediate level and above are expected to tow out.
We are an all volunteer community. All guests must sign up for and complete a housekeeping chore. Additionally guests are expected to help wash dishes, pots and pans at every meal.
Lights go off on the third floor at 9:00 p.m. and off on the second floor at 10:00 p.m. Every guest must have at least a small flashlight with fresh batteries. Beds are expected to be prepared for the night prior to lights going out. Power is lost several times a winter. Plan accordingly.
