What You Need to Know
More Information
Welcome to Meany Lodge, activity central for a fun-filled summer weekend. You might have some questions about what to expect, what to bring and how to get here. This page along with the summer driving directions and the frequently asked questions pages should help. If you have additional questions or just want to make contact please send us e-mail.
In the summer it takes an hour and a half to get to Meany from the I405/I90 interchange. The road up to Meany is rough, and higher ground clearance vehicles are recommended.
Please arrive at 10:00 on Saturday to stow your gear and get ready for the day. We can help you find a bed in the lodge, or a place for your tent. At 10:30 we will answer questions and show maps of the various hikes and arrange carpools to trailheads. We want to get moving and leave for the day’s hikes around 11:00.
Please remember to bring with you:
- Sack lunch to eat on the Saturday hike
- NORTHWEST FOREST PASS. Bring your annual pass, or 2 1-day permits (if you do not use them this weekend, you can use them this summer or next year.) There is no place to buy permits close to the lodge. Permits can be purchased online at www.naturenw.org, or in person at REI and Forest Service offices
- A flashlight for everyone (it’s a dark trip to the restrooms in the night)
- Bug juice (repellent)
- Sun screen
- Water bottle
- Sleeping bag and pillow
- Change of clothes
- Swim suit, and water shoes or sandals (to play in the water)
- Tent or tarp if you wish to sleep outside
You can e-mail questions to bdthom@comcast.net or call 425-228-6412. On August 4th or 5th, call 425-890-9342. Leave a message if there’s no answer and you will get a call back. At Meany, it’s easy to step behind a tree and briefly lose cell reception.
Cheers
The Meany Crew
