Meany Lodge Family Hiking Weekend 2010

The Sunday Mirror Lake hikers gather at the real trailhead
Thank you to all the families who participated in Meany Lodge's Family Hiking Weekend in 2010. Sojin and I enjoyed hosting all of you at the lodge this year. Thank you to Dan Nord and Deb Cole for volunteering their time. Thank you to the hike leaders Jovica Spasic, Avner Aharoni, and Patti Polinsky. A big thanks to all the families, parent and kids, for stepping up to make our weekend work so well. This was a delightful group to spend the weekend with.
Special thanks to my son, Sojin who did so much to make the weekend work. He was cook, lodge cleaner and co-leader on the long berry hike. I would not have made it through the weekend without him. Sojin, I'm sorry if I snapped at you a couple times.
I will soon post pictures to the the picture page of the hiking weekend web site. If you have pictures to share, you can send them to me.
I'm looking to recruit parents to be involved in running hiking weekend next year. If you can to volunteer to lead hikes or activities, cook or clean please email me. If you have ideas for hiking weekend, please send them to me as well. We are already thinking of ways to improve and build on what went well this year.
I will try to keep the Breaking News page on the Family Hiking Weekend web site updated with pictures, Meany Lodge updates and information about similar events.
Meany is open many weekends this fall for work parties. The cost for lodging and that great Meany food is your time and a little labor. Check the Meany Lodge home page or contact Chuck Welter for more information.
Ski season starts the week after Christmas and runs into March. The lodge is open every weekend, Friday through Sunday. Ski and snowboard lessons are available for adults and children as multi-week programs or single, drop-in lessons. See the Winter Sports web site for program details.
Family Hiking Weekend 2011 is the first weekend of August. Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend, August 6 and 7. We hope to see you next year, if not sooner.
Cheers!
Brian, Jennifer and Sojin
