Riding on FR 54
The Meany lodge bike trip on July 21th - 22th 2012 is in the planning stages. What better way to come and see the lodge then by Mountain bike. We will again meet at the lodge with our cars, guests can arrive on Friday night will have some time to do some riding around the trails nearby, and for a guided after dark ride as well. Saturday morning around 9am we will again ride down to the John Wayne trail and along Lake Keechelus to the tunnel, those who wish to can ride through and down the other side several more miles for some spectacular sights before turning around and riding back to the lodge in the afternoon. We will again have an outdoor fire and BBQ, refreshments and activities. You may even be able to schedule a massage for that evening. Sunday is open to more riding or an early start back to the city, we will plan to close the lodge up around noon but feel free to stay and ride the trails.

The main ride will be on compact gravel roads all the way, fat tire mountain bikes and cross bikes are very suitable for this ride as are trailers for kids. There are also trails near the lodge where suspension bikes could be useful and advanced skills required, lots of terrain for all skill levels. The ride to the tunnel is about 8 miles each way, the tunnel is 2.3 miles long so bright bike lights and warm jackets are required for those that wish to go through and back. Riding further down the other side will take more time, though it is very similar terrain there is lot more to see, a few historic trestles and many more vistas on the west side.
